CSK have appointed Zaheer Khan as head coach for IPL 2027, but three other names could have made a strong case for the role.
2. Mike Hussey
Mike Hussey enjoyed a long and celebrated association with CSK as a player and later as a batting coach. The former Australia left-hander was a trusted figure within the franchise setup and understood the demands of the IPL environment from both a playing and support-staff perspective.
His experience working closely with batters at the highest level and his knowledge of CSK's systems made him a credible candidate for a senior coaching role. Hussey's calm and methodical approach to the game is well regarded in cricketing circles, and his familiarity with the franchise would have reduced any transition period significantly.
