The television and streaming partners for the first-ever senior men's T20I between Japan and India have been confirmed by the Japan Cricket Association (JCA). JioStar has secured television broadcast rights in India, while FanCode will provide live-streaming coverage of the match, which is scheduled for September 22, 2026, at Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture.

The match will begin at 9:30 AM IST, which is 1:00 PM local time in Japan. It is branded as the Suzuki Cup and forms part of the 'Sport 75' initiative, which marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. The fixture is also being held alongside the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

ITW Universe holds exclusive global sports production, broadcast distribution and commercial marketing rights for the match. India are the reigning T20 World Cup champions and three-time winners, while Japan are ranked 41st in the ICC T20I rankings.

What does ITW Universe's global rights deal cover?

ITW Universe has been confirmed as the exclusive rights holder for global production, broadcast distribution and commercial marketing for the Suzuki Cup T20I. The arrangement gives ITW Universe full control over the broadcast and commercial footprint of the fixture across international markets.

"Securing the exclusive rights for this historic match is a proud milestone for ITW Universe. India playing Japan on Japanese soil for the very first time is a monumental moment for global cricket. Having full control over the broadcast and commercial footprint allows us to build a premium, world-class experience for viewers while offering an unmissable, first-mover platform for brands and media networks," Naoki Alex Miyaji, the JCA CEO said in a media release.

Why is FanCode involved in streaming this fixture?

FanCode has secured live-streaming rights for the Japan vs India T20I. The platform has previously worked closely with the Japan Cricket Association on pathway cricket, which adds relevant background to its involvement in this fixture.

"Held alongside the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, the match presents an unprecedented opportunity to take Indian cricket into a new market and build long-term visibility in Japan," a statement read.

"Bringing the Indian cricket team to Japanese soil for this historic T20I is a defining milestone for the growth of cricket in Japan. Partnering with ITW Universe ensures that this fixture will be produced and marketed to the highest global standards, giving fans in Japan, India, and around the world a top-tier viewing experience while inspiring a whole new generation of cricket enthusiasts in our country," Miyaji added.

For the unversed, the match on September 22 at the Sano International Cricket Ground will be the first time the two nations have met at the senior men's T20I level.
